Last night’s Republican production reminded us of conventions past. In 1992, performance artist Stoney Burke provided an inside view for our series THE 90’s, which was broadcast nationally on PBS.
Stoney’s confrontational interview style predated The Daily Show by four years. Looking at this pioneering video, you can see it as a precursor to the era of comedic, yet politically engaged commentary on TV.
