  2018 Derby-Winning Jockey Mike Smith on His First Win in 2005

  Hall of Famer Mike Smith won his second Kentucky Derby last Saturday (5/5/18). He rode Justify, still undefeated in four career races. Smith, now 52, earned $124,000 for the two-minute race. He got his first Derby win in 2005, aboard Giacomo, a 50-1 long shot. Thoroughbred Kentucky filmmakers Eleanor Bingham Miller and Bruce Skinner featured Mike Smith (below) in Thunder and Reins, their 47-minute 2007 documentary about and with Derby-winning jockeys.
