Please do your part for Media Burn

In 2017, more of you than ever contributed more than ever to the successes of Media Burn.  We thank you but we still need more support for operating the archive and our operations.   If you haven’t gotten around to clicking the DONATE button or sending a check (or a security) and you still want to do it this year, you have a few hours left in 2017.   Your contribution will help us continue to succeed in almost […]

Rose Marie (born Rosemarie Mazzatta) was a legendary multi-talented performer-actress-singer. She died this week. She appeared in hundreds of TV shows, most famously the Dick Van Dyke Show and Hollywood Squares.  She was also in dozens of movies, on Broadway and night clubs for nine decades, from famous “Baby Rose-Marie” in 1929 to a starring in a 2017 documentary, Wait for Your Laugh.  I was a producer of a show called Punchline (aka “Tell a Joke on TV”) in 1985 and we met and […]

We worked with teachers, scholars, students, filmmakers, and performers to create new works of art and journalism. But […]

I use the Media Burn Archive constantly: for historical reference, for licensing one-of-a-kind footage, for teaching media literacy, and just for enjoyment.  And I couldn’t be more excited about Media Burn’s future as the premiere independent video archive. It’s a daunting time to be a politically engaged mediamaker.  History matters more now than ever, as divisions seeded in previous generations flare up in new […]

On our side are the people of the world and a power greater than money or weapons: the truth. –Howard Zinn, 2004.     Dear Friend of Media Burn:   Howard Zinn dedicated his life to revealing truth to power and advocating for the exploited. We need to pay attention to his teachings now more than ever.   That’s why we’re excited […]
