    The 90’s election special: the Primary

    The first of three election specials from the award winning series, The 90’s. This episode focuses on “The Primary” and features moments from the Illinois presidential and senatorial primaries, featuring Bill Clinton, Jerry Brown, Paul Tsongas, and Carol Moseley Braun. The producers tend to stay away from the regular news type footage and find the human interactions and the moments when the politicians are off their guard.

    This tape is comprised of a short interview segment with hockey legend Bobby Hull, as well as some b-roll of Bobby and brother Dennis Hull skating and shooting around an ice rink. In the interview, Hull gives insight into the fleeting nature of playing on a hockey team, his relationship with his brother Dennis, and his current career in the cattle business. It was shot for the documentary Once A Star.

    Slices of Chicago

    Compilation tape highlighting the work of the members of the Chicago Area Videomakers Coalition. The group was formed in 1977 to formally bring together Chicago’s independent videomakers to create a higher profile and bring their work to the public. This tape was first broadcast on Channel 44 on June 18, 1977, based on a commitment from general manager Ed Morris. The production of this tape made it apparent that the most pressing need in the videomaking community was editing facilities. In 1978, aided by the visibility produced by the sampler tape, the Coalition opened the Chicago Editing Center, which provided low-cost editing facilities to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Talks about Minnie Minoso and other characters in sports and broadcasting that he has encountered in his career. They step out onto Michigan Ave. just north of the Chicago River. The street has been rededicated as “Jack Brickhouse Way.”
