Media Burn Archive presents a small sampling of our wide array of videos highlighting Black life in Chicago. These videos will feature a variety of ordinary and extraordinary Chicagoans, such as Sen. Barack Obama, Harold Washington, Timuel Black, Jesse Jackson, Frankie Knuckles, Herb Kent, Richard Hunt, Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, Carol Moseley Braun, the House-o-Matics, Aaron Freeman, Vernon Jarrett, Oscar Brown, Jr, the Barrett Sisters, Blind John Davis, and Big Bill Broonzy. Footage of the Bud Billiken parade, blues concerts, and neighborhood festivals in South Shore, Englewood, and Cabrini Green and more round out the program. (60 min. + Q&A) After the screening, Media Burn’s executive director Sara Chapman and board member/media producer John Owens will be in conversation with Bronzeville Historical Society president Sherry Williams. |
