This is a continuation of a live broadcast begun in a previous video. The broadcast is by Samantha James on Q101, “Chicago’s new Rock/Alternative.” The tape was filmed for the TV show Radio Faces.
This is a tape of the 10 o’clock news on June 6, 1978. The tape switches between channels several times at the beginning to show some segments on each of Channels 2, 5, and 7. Many of the news segments cover the first anniversary of the riots in Humboldt Park, and give a report on the Humboldt Park community one year following the riots. These are followed by part of “Inside Spring Training” with the 1978 White Sox. Following this is part of “Overnight Man,” a candid documentary about WBBM radio journalist Joe Cummings. Cummings is interviewed, as well as many of his colleagues, who comment on his work and his personality as a “character.”
Raw footage for “Chicago Slices,” a 1994-1995 television series on WPWR about life in and around Chicago. This footage was shot for a segment called “What the El?,” where host Judy Markey approaches random people on Chicago’s elevated train and asks them questions. This tape features cutaways out the window of the “El” and Graffiti.
