Raw tape for the award-winning series The 90’s. M.M. Thomas describes his opinions on politics and America’s future in the ’90s. He describes his dissatisfaction with the policies of Reagan and Bush and what he thinks is wrong with the country. He gives his ultimate solution: “The only way to do all this is increase revenues, and you can read my lips, that means T-A-X-E-S.”
This tape features raw footage for the award-winning series “The 90’s.” Videomakers Jody Procter and Judith Binder visit Midnight Mission, a soup kitchen and advocate for the poor in Los Angeles. They interview employees about how the meals are prepared, and speak with a few of the patrons about their situations. However, their main focus is the food, and most of the tape concerns the process of making and serving it. In contrast, Procter and Binder visit Asylum, an extremely upscale restaurant. The owner talks about his influences, the cuisine, and the decor. They also talk to the pastry chef and bread baker and watch the head chef, Guy Leroy, prepare an unusual salmon dish.
In this part of an interview with famed Defensive End Doug Atkins, more personal stories from his football playing days are discussed, along with examinations of his relationships with his teammates and coaches. He also reflects on his days with the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears, while reciting a few anecdotes that he posits have been embellished over the years.
This tape is largely comprised of a Q&A session between famed Oakland A’s owner Charlie Finley and an audience of teenage baseball fans. Seated in his own home living room with the audience around him, Finley answers questions about his own career, gives his input on team ownership, and compares modern day players and their salaries to the days when he was at the forefront of the baseball business.
A day-in-the-life documentary with Garry Marshall. Marshall was an executive producer for ABC and was responsible for such hit shows as Laverne and Shirley, Happy Days, and Mork and Mindy. This tape features several behind the scenes segments from these shows’ productions. Marshall is also interviewed about the nature of television production and comedy.
