  Footage for the documentary “Voices of Cabrini.” Shot between 1995-1999, it documented the Cabrini Green redevelopment project proposed and carried out by the city of Chicago. This tape includes footage of a protest and press conference inside City Hall.

  [Rally for four released FALN members]

  This tape features footage of a National Liberation Armed Forces (FALN) support rally in September 1979 in Chicago. It took place right after Puerto Rican Nationalists Oscar Collazo, Irving Flores, Rafael Cancel Miranda, and Lolita Lebron were released from jail upon President Jimmy Carter’s commutation of their sentences. Collazo was incarcerated for the attempted assassination of President Harry Truman. Flores, Miranda, and Lebron had been in jail for a 1954 attack on the U.S. House of Representatives. In this tape, the released nationalists address a crowd of supporters for the first time.

  This tape features footage of a New York City protest against police brutality. A throng of demonstrators march the streets in protest, eventually arriving at the United Nations building for a public address.

  [United Nations rally with Angel Cristobal Rodriguez in New York part 3]

  This tape features footage of an outdoor rally that took place a day before Puerto Rican Nationalists Oscar Collazo, Irving Flores, Rafael Cancel Miranda, and Lolita Lebron were to be released from prison in 1979. Collazo attempted to assassinate President Truman in 1950, while the other three were convicted for opening fire in the House of Representatives in 1954, wounding six. The sentences of all four were commuted by President Jimmy Carter. The rally took place in New York City near the United Nations building.

  This tape features footage of a New York City community meeting on Chicano struggles and police brutality. Activist Emilio Benevides addresses a large crowd about the perils of “police terrorism” in their community, made up primarily of people of Puerto Rican descent. His speech is followed by a Q & A session.
