Part of the Global Perspectives on War and Peace Collection.
This piece is a re-edit of an American propaganda film that tried to legitimize the forced relocation of Japanese-Americans during World War II. By repeatedly presenting the arguments for relocation and cutting them in an unsettling and disjointed manner, Tanaka asks us to reconsider our concepts of democracy and citizenship, using this footage to continue the modern dialogue about these issues.
